Our society has evolved from the Industrial Age to the Technological Age. The challenge is great. The movement has transformed how we perform even the simplest of everyday tasks, thus touching everyone. The nation's schools are in metamorphosis. Schools must develop knowledge, skills, thinking processes, and attitudes for successful living today and for tomorrow's world.

Our curriculum is being redesigned to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to succeed in a technological society. Students must be able to analyze problems, to capture, organize, and communicate information, problem solve, develop alternatives, and understand that learning is a continual process lasting a lifetime.

Multimedia centers are utilized to enhance a multiperspeclive/global vision. Technology is integrated into all curriculum areas. Interdisciplinary units are constructed to provide a thematic approach for learning. Students are drawn into the learning setting to become active participants and shareholders.

Learning takes on a new dimension: From transfer of knowledge to construction of knowledge; from teacher centered to learner centered; from telling to context setting; from facts to relationships; from quantity to quality; from additive to transformative; from passive to active.

We must have the necessary technology to realize this vision. New generation computers and interactive software are just a few of the technologies that people must learn to embrace. The key is that people must use these as tools for learning. They must become as integral as a text, paper, and pencil. When people can utilize technology to capture, analyze, organize, create, and communicate information, they can apply critical thinking skills and problem solving techniques.

Learning is an act of exploration - technology equips the learner for the journey of a lifetime!
